The inspiration for new F/W 2015-2016 collection are traditional Russian symbols – Snegurochka, snowflakes and Maslenitsa. However, Vera has decided not to make direct references, but to interpret them in a modern, trendy way.
Trends for the next season include working with contrast colors. This has been incorporated into the collection in monotone patchwork color blocking schemes. Intricate design work is brought to another level through these interweaving elements, that compliment the theme of the collection and make even simple silhouettes look original.
Different textures are used in the collection following the texture mix trend: wool, lace, karakul sheep, silk and textured leather. It was the first time this season that VERA KOSTYURINA has worked with leather, that didn’t prevent her to use all the potential of this material. Original leather aprons with perforated snowflake patterns.
Symbols of sun and snowflake elements are blended into the collection as trendy appliques, made using traditional Russian technique of openwork wool knitting. Adding to the Russian traditional crafts theme is the embroidery inspired by Zhostovo paintings. Unlike the traditional interpretation, in VERA KOSTYURINA collection, embroidery and appliques are not just decorative, but are central to the stylistical vision of the collection.
Apart from working with decorative elements in the new season, VERA KOSTYURINA has continued to improve the silhouettes, incorporating new elements that add complexity to the cut, but at the same time staying clear to the customers.
The designer has created a collection for men as well: traditional English tweed suits of highest quality, and ideally fitting shirts.
All the clothing from the new VERA KOSTYURINA collection is made for modern customers, that appreciate trendy and practical clothes, but demand conceptual and new design solutions.
